Day 5 - Tune it up!

Let's talk about Romantic songs! I'm sure you have a tune or two that melts your heart, makes you think of that significant other or describes your romantic love life perfectly. I know I do! Today it seems that everyone sings about love: ranging from deliriously happy to desperately single. Well for day five, lets talk about five of my favorite love songs. And hey, if you like them, maybe you can add them to your playlist! :)

Number 5: Good Morning Beautiful by Luke McMaster
It's upbeat, the music video is cute and it's just overall super sweet.

Number 4: This Will Be- Natalie Cole
I first heard this song in the movie "While You were Sleeping." Have you seen that? It has Sandra Bullock in it. It's a super cute movie. Anyway, another upbeat song with cute lyrics. Kind of a throwback, but it's a classic.

Number 3: I Want Crazy- Hunter Hayes
I think I'm just a succor for happy songs! Another happy, cute romantic love song.
My roommates introduces me to this song and I just love it!

Number 2: Tip Toes- Jayme Dee
Cute, Upbeat Fun! Are you seeing a pattern here cuz I am! :)
My roommates also introduced me to this song.

Number 1: I Choose You- Sara Bareilles
In this one, I love the lyrics. The instrumentation is great and I just don't think there is anything wrong with this song!! :)

Day 4 - A Rose by any other name

Would a Rose by any other name smell as sweet? This is a very good question! One posed by the Bard of England, your one and only William Shakespeare.
I feel like if you wanted to find the answer to this, you could get a rose and try calling it something else for a day or two, and then see if it effects your nasal capabilities.

Anyway, I want to tell you a story today that has to do with a rose. A single long stemmed red rose given to a young girl on Valentines day.

Once upon a time, as all stories begin, there was a boy. For the sake of the story we shall call him Rudolpho. (Because that kinda sounds exotic right) Well back in the day, when Rudolpho went by "Rudy"he had a crush on a little sixth grade girl in his class. But you see, Rudy was a little shy and didn't quite know how to go about letting this girl know that he kinda maybe sorta kinda liked her. So, he did what any young lad would do when faced with such a predicament. He gave the girl candy.

Every day, for a whole year of school, he would walk up, hand his lovely lady a box of candy and then walk away. Well this went on for awhile then sixth grade ended and life moved on.

But then, 6 years later, what should happen but that girl he bribed with candy happened to be in one of his classes!

Valentines Day rolled around and so he did something sweet, cute and simple for her. He bought her a rose and wrote a note.

if you can't read that it says:
"A rose isn't complete without a little note to go along with it, so I made one. I'm pretty sure all guys do this, so sorry if this rose is a bit lame. It's just a guys way of saying he cares for you. Well...I'm not very good at this but I tried. haha. Anyways... I know haven't really shown it but I care about you and there is no one else I would rather give this rose to.

Happy Valentines Day"

For the record, Rudolpho totally scored high points with this one. So moral of the story is this: Guys, she doesn't need a dozen roses, a diamond ring or a trip to Paris France. This valentines day, all it really takes is a rose and a nice note.

Day 3: How to get a Valentine

Today is all tips and tricks to make a good first impression on that girl you've been staring at in English Class, or that dreamy boy you see all the time around campus, but just don't have the guts to talk to. See, I want you to have your Valentine this year. It's only the third of February so there's still time to get one, if you get on it right away! And when I say right away, I mean right away.... like tomorrow... or...NOW!!! :)

Disclaimer: While many of these tips and tricks are geared towards boys, they can be altered slightly to work for girls too. Believe me, I'm a girl and I've used a few of these myself! :) Works like a charm every time!

First: The Pick up Line
Pick up Lines aren't really supposed to be used "seriously." They are more of a funny way to make her laugh and let her know that you think she's cute. A good pick up line has three very important elements:
  • A strong beginning- something that will catch her attention and usually catch her off guard. If she looks confused at first, that's a good thing, but the feeling of confusion should go away fairly quickly if it's a good pick up line.
  • A good punch line- You want her to laugh right? So make your pick up line funny! Also delivery is very important. Don't rush the punch line! Allow her to soak in what you are saying, let her be a little confused and then deliver your punch line!
  • Confidence! If you don't do this with confidence, you shouldn't have done it at all. Pick up lines are stupid! We all know that, but that's really the whole point!
Here are some examples good pick up lines:
  • Do you believe in love at first sight? ...Or should I walk by again?
  • If I could rearrange the alphabet I'd put U and I together
  • Are you religious? ...Cuz you're the answer to all my prayers!
  • Do you know what this shirt is made of? ...Boyfriends material
  • Are you a parking ticket? Cuz you've got "fine" written all over you.
  • I would offer you a cigarette, but baby you're already smokin!

Second: How to get her number:
You can use a pick up line to get her number. For example:
  • Excuse me, I lost my number can I have yours?
  • They say dating is a numbers game, so can I have yours?
However, there are ulterior means of accomplishing this. Here are a few strategies to get you started.
  • Ask to borrow her phone so you can "call your friend" because your phone is "dead" then dial your number, call yourself, and tell her that you will "text her later" (While it's true, you shouldn't begin a relationship with lies, I'm pretty sure if you repent afterwards and let her know you did it just because she was so pretty, she will probably forgive you.)
  • Tell her that in order to remember her name, you're going to write it down in your phone, and then ask if you can get a number with that.
  • Just ask for it. "hey, I would like to take you out sometime. Can I have your number?"
And now, since I'm not the only one with tips and strategies, I thought I'd throw in someone else's ideas, just to give you some diversity.
Have you heard of Stuart Edge? Well he's this youtube sensation that is pretty cool.
He and I are like best friends
And I have photo evidence!

See! Me and him!!! Buddies!!

Okay so maybe I ran into him, kinda fan girled and asked for a picture...
...but I'd like to think we are buddies... :)

Anyway, Here's Stuart using Siri to get a date!

Day 2: Scott + Kate

It was written on a brick wall with black sharpie in the back room at Muse Music Cafe.

Scott and Kate got engaged on August 10th, 2012

Now I don't know Scott and I don't know Kate
but as Valentines Day approaches
I can't help but think about this couple
who I will probably never meet.

I hope that Scott brings Kate roses
I hope that Kate makes Scott his favorite dinner.
And I hope they have a happy Valentines Day

San Diego Family Reunion-Round 2

So apparently my Video didn't work so well last time, so I think I fixed the glitches and here it is: Round 2!

Day 1

You know about the 12 days of Christmas right? 12 days before Christmas someone's "true love" gives them an assortment of gifts ranging from Partridges in a Pear Tree to Maids Milking and Swans Swimming. Now I don't know about you but if I had a true love, I'm not sure how I would feel about  drummers drumming as a symbol of his affection. I mean, what does that say about your relationship?

Anyway, there are 12 Days of Christmas, so why not 12... or 14...days of Valentines day? Valentines Day actually has to do with true love and on Valentines day people give each other roses and Chocolates and not French Hens or Turtle Doves (though occasionally a boyfriend will slip in a golden ring) So for the next 14 days I'm going to share random stories, experiences or romantic thoughts. Simply because I'm a young college girl who wants to take full advantage of this lovely holiday.

Day 1:
A couple weeks ago, I was sitting in the library doing homework and just minding my own business. At the table across from me, a really pretty girl with dark wavy hair sat down and started working on her homework. About 15 minutes later, a boy came and sat down across from her. I could tell that he wanted to say something but just as he opened his mouth, the girl, completely oblivious, stood up, grabbed her wallet and walked off to the crossroads to get something to eat. The boy sat and waited for her to get back, glancing frequently at his watch.

When the girl got back, the boy waited a few minutes and then struck up a conversation; inquiring about her name, major and what she liked to do. When they found a common interest he asked her if she'd like to go with him and a few friends on Friday to a concert. She sighed and stated that she was busy.

"I'm just going to be honest" The boy said. "I think you are very attractive and I would really like to get your number and take you on a date sometime"

The girl, taken aback by his directness gave him her number.

"Thanks," The boy smiled. "Now I've actually got to go because I'm late to class! So I've got to run! I'll text you!" He called, walking away.

So this guy sat down and then waited for this girl to get back from getting food even though he was late to class, just to get her number. How CUTE is that!!!!?!?!?

So if they get married, I definitely am going to their wedding, even though I don't know them, but I witnessed their first meeting.
